We hear a lot of stories about the ethics of using Palo Santo wood sticks. Indeed, as demand has increased drastically over the last 5 years, certain processes that are harmful to these trees have been put in place to speed up production and trade. The tree is supposed to die naturally, and its wood will then have all the sacred and purifying virtues it wishes to pass on – the wood doesn’t have the same scents and virtues when the tree is cut down with ignorance.
At Aho Botanicals, we know that some of Palo Santo’s reserves continue to be cared for with respect and love by local families. We chose to go through Anima Mundi Herbals to ensure the protection values of these trees. Here’s what they have to say:
“Our palo santo is 100% ethically harvested in Peru. We work directly with a small indigenous family from Lambayeque – Región Chiclayo in northern Peru. They ethically harvest fallen and naturally aged trees (at least four years old), while replanting in the wild. The family we work with have been custodians of this preserved land for generations and have been caring for these trees in a sacred way for over 100 years.”
⟁ How to use it
Anima Mundia Herbals suggests using it this way: “Use a candle, match or lighter to ignite your Palo Santo stick. Hold at an angle of about 45 degrees, pointing the tip towards the flame. Let it burn for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, then blow it out. Move around your workspace, home, car, bathroom or wherever you want to eliminate energy. The rich scent will also bring peace and clarity to the moment with good sensations. When finished, place the stick in a fireproof metal, glass or clay bowl. The glow will end on its own unless you blow on the embers, which will maintain the smoke. Always exercise caution and respect when working with fire.”

The merchant will take the utmost care in receiving and fulfilling orders for products and in evaluating requests for services.

The place of delivery is the address given by the consumer to the company.

In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 4 of this article, the company will execute accepted orders within 30 days at the latest, unless the consumer agrees to a longer delivery period. If delivery is delayed or if an order can only be partially fulfilled, the consumer will be informed no later than 30 days after the order has been placed. In this case, the consumer has the right to withdraw from the contract free of charge. The consumer has no right to compensation.

All delivery times are indicative. The consumer cannot derive any rights from the periods mentioned. Exceeding a deadline does not entitle the consumer to compensation.

In the event of termination in accordance with paragraph 3 of this article, the contractor will refund the amount paid by the consumer as soon as possible and no later than 14 days after termination.

If delivery of an ordered product proves impossible, the contractor will endeavour to provide a replacement item. At the latest at the time of delivery, it will be clearly and comprehensibly indicated that a replacement item will be delivered. The right of withdrawal cannot be excluded in the case of replacement items. The costs of any return shipment shall be borne by the contractor.

The risk of deterioration and/or loss of the products rests with the contractor until the time of delivery to the consumer or to a representative designated in advance and announced by the contractor, unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Refund Policy

The contractor has a well-known complaints procedure and handles complaints in accordance with this procedure.

Complaints relating to the performance of the contract must be fully and clearly described to the contractor within seven days of the day on which the consumer discovered the defects.

Complaints addressed to the contractor will be answered within 14 days from the date of receipt. If a complaint requires a longer, foreseeable processing time, the contractor will respond within 14 days with a notice of receipt and an indication of when the consumer can expect a more detailed response.

If the complaint cannot be resolved by mutual agreement, the dispute is submitted to a dispute resolution plan.

In the event of a complaint, the consumer must first contact the contractor.

A complaint does not suspend the contractor's obligations, unless otherwise specified in writing by the contractor.

If a complaint is deemed justified by the contractor, he will replace or repair the products at his discretion, or the products will be delivered free of charge.
Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy

When purchasing products, the consumer has the right to withdraw from the contract without giving any reason within 14 days. This withdrawal period runs from the day following receipt of the product by the consumer or a representative designated in advance by the consumer and brought to the attention of the contractor.

During the cooling-off period, the consumer shall handle the product and packaging with care. He will only unpack or use the product to the extent necessary to determine whether he wishes to keep it. If he makes use of his right of withdrawal, he will return the product with all accessories and - if reasonably possible - in its original condition and packaging to the contractor, in accordance with the clear and reasonable instructions provided by the contractor.

If the consumer wishes to exercise his right of withdrawal, he must inform the contractor within 14 days of receipt of the product. The consumer must make this known using the standard form. Once the consumer has indicated that he wishes to exercise his right of withdrawal, he must return the product within 14 days. The consumer must prove that the delivered goods were returned on time, for example by means of proof of shipment.

If the customer has not indicated that he wishes to make use of his right of withdrawal or the right of revocation after the expiry of the terms set out in paragraphs 2 and 3, the product has not been returned to the contractor, the sale is a fact.
