FLORAL OPERA COAT

INSPIRATION/CREATION

Drawn from the idea of a Robe that might have been worn over a gown by a noble woman from the Renaissance era.

This coat is made from jacquard woven floral furnishing fabric, and is also inspired from my time living in the Middle East where many women wore such type of robes called “Abaya”, although these were more commonly covering the whole body/dress. I have refined the shape and made it for a New Renaissance wearer…perfect to combine with a dress (full length or mini); a trouser or pair of jeans…The coat is fully lined with a stretch cotton blend fabric, and is edged with a vintage furnishing braid. The collar and sleeve hem are decorated with vintage hand-crochet doilies, as well as a heart motif appliquéd to the back.
